I remember the first Sunday I set foot in Good Shepherd Church. I just completed Graduate School and was looking for a church home. It had been awhile since I was part of a church community, but I knew what I was looking for….so I thought.

I feel that Good Shepherd has changed my life in a lot of ways. One of my best experiences here has been the trip to San Antonio. I learned a lot about God’s love for us. I also really understand Jesus’ sacrifice for us for the first time. Before it had always been a fact, just a fact, nothing incredibly personal, just something I accepted. Jesus died for us. |

It's hard to find anything good to say about March in Wisconsin. It's cold, it's windy, it's unpredictable. The first signs of spring are emerging but it takes a sharp eye to spot them. We know there's likely one last blizzard to dump on us: when our kids (his, mine) were in high school and calendars were planned around their outings, we knew we could count on a blizzard for the State Basketball Tournament.

Finding A Home At Good Shepherd |

In February 2001 I was in a great place. I was pregnant with my second child and I was so happy to tell my older son that he would be a big brother. He was so excited that the next morning he told his whole class.
Two days later I had a miscarriage. I went to bed for several days to grieve. After the week long tear fest I got myself up and tried to move on. It wasn’t easy but I wasn’t the only one who was affected. Our whole family was grieving.

Twenty years ago, my husband and I were newlyweds and had recently moved to Madison. Joining Good Shepherd was the first “official” step we took as a couple. The first few Sundays we workedup the courage to join others in the Fireside Room for kringle and coffee. Soon we were serving coffee and kringle to our Good Shepherd family. One relationship led to another as we worshipped in our “household of God.”
